This database project aims to record all available Seals of the Teutonic Order. Further, they will be digitally accessible through this website.
Value of Seals
Seals were the most common form of authentication for documents in the High and Late Middle Ages. Today, they serve as a valuable source for historical research.
Associated Institutes
The research project is being carried out by the Research Institute of the Teutonic Order, University of Würzburg. It is funded by the Bailiwick of Utrecht.
